Green Smoothie

Basic Green Smoothie Recipe

I don’t like to cook for myself so making a blender smoothie is a great lunch option for me (I’m fortunate to be able to work from home).

The recipe I made today:
1 cup of water
a couple of large romaine lettuce leaves
1 tsp of Chia seeds
1 tsp of Flax seeds
6 dates for a bit of sweetness

Blend it all up, 30 seconds in the Vitamix. Loaded with goodness and your lunch in a snap 🙂

Basic Green Smoothie (from Blendtec)

This basic recipe is ideal for green smoothie novices. The same formula can be used for any fruits or greens to make a delicious smoothie every time.

Ingredients
3 c cold water
3 c leafy greens*, packed
3 c fresh and frozen fruit**

INSTRUCTIONS

Add water and leafy greens to FourSide jar and secure lid. Press “Pulse” 4–6 times to chop greens. Add fruit and secure lid. Select “Whole Juice.”

*If you’re a green smoothie beginner, try romaine lettuce and spinach because they have a mild taste. As you adjust to the taste of green smoothies, try Swiss chard, collard greens, kale, and even dandelion greens.

**I typically add 1 banana, 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks or frozen peach slices, and 1 cup frozen mixed berries or frozen blueberries.

VARIATIONS

The ratio in this recipe is 1 vegetable to 1 fruit, which may be too sweet for some people and not sweet enough for others. If it’s not sweet enough, try adding more fruit or a little noncaloric sweetener (such as stevia).
